Who Is Birthright?

For over 50 years, Birthright International has been helping women with unexpected pregnancies. Birthright is committed to providing confidential, nonjudgmental support to any woman who is pregnant or thinks she might be pregnant. We assist women no matter their age, race, circumstances, religion, marital status or financial situation.

We are a charitable organization that relies on the dedication, time, and talents of volunteers and the generosity of donors to ensure we can support the women, men and families in the Leavenworth community. We have been serving the Leavenworth community for over 38 years.

We are an independent organization and not affiliated with any religious group, political organization, or public agency.

From your first call or visit, Birthright is available to support you for as long as you need a friend. Through one-on-one contact, we provide personal attention to everyone to ensure they receive the best care.

Birthright’s services are always nonjudgmental, confidential and free. We will help you find solutions that fit with your life. No pressure, scare tactics, or lectures.

We understand reaching out can be difficult but don’t hesitate. We are here for you. Our peer counselors simply ask, “How can we help you?”

Our History

Birthright began in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1968 when Louise Summerhill, a busy housewife and mother of seven children, felt something should be done to help women facing unexpected pregnancies.

By offering love, hope, support and resources, Birthright has grown to become a pregnancy support service with hundreds of centers throughout Canada, the United States and Africa.
